Ideas For Family Christmas Memories

A.

  1. Each family member gets a sheet of paper. Then they can write down their favorite memories.

  2. They each are allowed to come and go. You don't have to complete this in one day.

  3. They can draw or paint a picture of their favorites.

  4. They can cut out clip art or magazine people to create an active page.

On Christmas, share the finished items with everyone in the family. Let each family member share and discuss the person or group. If there are distant relatives longing to see your children, it would be lovely to share the memories with them.

B.

Serving Others and Family Memories

Gather all the family pictures of our times when we helped in our church and community. If some of the events are missing let the children draw a picture of what happened there. We don't want to help them, but guide them as they remember what happened.

The years that our family volunteered at the Salvation Army, pictures were taken by the leader there. She was kind enough to mail me a copy. Start a tradition by volunteering for service. Children will learn humility and develop a more Christ-like attitude. Training children to enjoy serving others will lead to an them being an adult volunteer.

C.

Christmas Family Traditions should be as meaningful on the 25th of December as they are every day. Many traditions become so popular with children that they will want to participate all the time.

Creating a notebook could be a fantastic method of storing memories without stuffing a box full of memorabilia. Some families enjoy having a scrapbook for each Christmas, filling it with their favorite activities and traditions. It's good to do this when it's fresh in your mind. Children's drawings and photographs will help the pages come alive and bring back feelings of cheer.

I prefer using a scrapbook notebook and using scrapbook paper. The paper is covered with words that tell the tale as well as pictures and photographs.

Other families prefer to make a scrapbook of specific topics or events and adding a few pages every year. Adding recipes that you made with your children will later be a tremendous scrapbook of tasty memories. This will also help your children use the same recipes and traditions that you began in their early years.

This year we will have FOUR winners!! Each winner will get a $200 gift card to wherever they choose – a restaurant, clothing store, grocery store, online retailer – any place that offers gift cards! There are lots of entry options in the Rafflecopter form below – the more you enter, the better your chance of winning! I know it can seem tedious and time consuming to go through all the entries, but isn’t a chance at $200 worth it? I think it is!
